Dear Roseville Citizens,
I am a 36-year resident of Roseville, a graduate of Roseville Area High School, have previously served in elected office, and am a homeowner with two teenage children. I am invested in this community and care about its long-term success.
Crime is increasing and our current economic situation is hurting most families in the community. More than ever, Roseville needs strong city council leadership that is laser focused on city government business.
Roseville is at a crossroads. Within the decade, we could easily become the next Brooklyn Center, Columbia Heights, Richfield, or Minneapolis, with out of control crime, crumbling roads, neglected parks, marginal enforcement of housing standards, and little focus on city government issues.
What is common with the marginal and crumbling cities I mention, is that many of their city council members are partisan political party hacks that only want the job title and public recognition. They have little interest in doing what is often times the boring work that goes into providing city government services for the best value.
In my opinion, Julie Strahan and Dale Howey represent these worst values. They are hyper-partisan political party hacks that want the job title of "mayor" or "city council member" to advance their personal pet political causes.
Julie Strahan's and Dale Howey's focus is on State and Federal issues, not Roseville city government. They have no business running for Roseville city council and in my opinion are simply using it as a stepping stone to run for the State Legislature or Congress.
One only needs to look at the past two years of Julie Strahan's city council meeting behavior, wasting countless hours and tens of thousands of dollars of Roseville city staff time, ranting and raving about State and Federal issues at city council meetings.
Julie Strahan's self-serving behavior at city council meetings is likely for the purpose of collecting endorsements and money from State and Federal special interest groups almost no one has heard of, that likely care less about Roseville city government. This is partially evidenced by all the photographs she shows of herself with State and/or Federal officials.
It does not surprise me to find that 62% of the individual itemized donations Julie Strahan's reported receiving from January through July 2022 have come Multi-State special interest groups that donate most of their money to State Legislature and/or US Congressional candidates.
Julie Strahan's self-serving behavior on the council is bad enough, but then we also have her recruitment of and association with the New Black Panther Party, known racists that hate Jews and law enforcement officers. Then she attempted to cover up her behavior by erasing her previous comments she posted on social media.
Dale Howey, a Minneapolis landlord, has no understanding about the role of a city council member, and campaigns on issues for the State Legislature or US Congress, not Roseville city government. In addition, his tenants have called him a "creep and a head-case", with a questionable management style, and no respect for personal property and boundaries.
Over the next few weeks, I fully expect to be viciously attacked (newspaper, social media, hate mail) for simply expressing my opinion and posting documents that some hoped were permanently erased. It is common to attack the messenger when ugly facts are difficult to easily dismiss.
Regardless, I felt that someone had to step forward, speak out, and let Roseville voters know what is at stake, and that there are better choices for Roseville Mayor & City Council this November 8th.
Please review the documents I have posted on this site, review alternative candidates, and then vote.
Sincerely,
John M. Kysylyczyn
